Originally from Winnipeg, Jane Everett received her B.F.A. from Queen’s University. Her paintings have been exhibited in private and public galleries across Canada. Now residing in Kelowna, British Columbia, Jane Everett’s oil paintings are essentially a study of the reflection of light. The dexterity of each brushstroke conveys a strong sense of movement. Reflection by nature is a distortion so that the paintings blur the line between abstraction and realism and the landscape is transformed into a watery, dream-like impression of reality.

“The reflection paintings are also about memory and how objects appear to us in our mind’s eye in a fragmented form. Capturing the images as they appear in reflection comes closer to the memory of an object that does its physical reality. I think of these works in musical terms as sonatas or adagios” (Jane Everett).
