Pat Pennell’s paintings are explorations into the natural, outdoor world around us. The local artist’s favourite time of year is autumn when she goes out into the parks around the city and takes photographs to capture this fleeting, colourful season. Her paintings are an explosion of colour and texture. Through the overlaying of acrylic paint from washes to impasto, rich mosaics of the urban forest’s myriad of fall colours and textures suggest shimmering Edens.
