My work is a blend of feminist traditions and explorations. I combine influences such a quilt making and textile arts with arts and crafts and wood working. I am influenced by pattern painters and fabric designers such as William Morris as well as more conceptual artists such as Suzanne Lacy and Miriam Schapiro with their "The Crystal Quilt Project".

In my work, I balance geometric and organic shapes as well as negative and positive space. By featuring natural wood grain and pairing it with paper (collage) that has been through a vigorous process of transformation I try to invite the viewer to visualize the journey of the material through its metamorphosis.

I make use of various wood grains from exotic hardwoods such as bubinga and zebrawood, or even more common varieties like spruce or pine. The goal is to always pay mind to the beauty and integrity of the material. I incorporate papers that I have collected in my travels that inspire a pattern. I will appropriate their existing patterns and manipulate them in such a way so as to form my own and then further alter them with paint and other media, often referencing things in nature. The final process is to add a glossy seal, which saturates the colours and creates a dichotomy between the natural references, and the geometric shapes of today's commercial society.
